Miao Jacket - Taijiang Style This style of dress are fashionable in counties in the valley of Qingshui River, such as Taijiang, Huangping, Shibing, Zhenyuan, Kaili, Leishan, Jianhe, which are densely populated with the Miao nationality. A part of the Miao people in Zhenfeng Xingren and Xingyi Anlong counties in Southwestern Guizhou origingally came from Huangping and Taijiang counties in the Qing Dynasty. Their costumes are basically in the same style as Taijiang. Women's deress in Xijiang of Leishan county is gorgeous in lolour and exprisite in workmanship. The coat is the same as that in Taigong area. The matching skirt is made of over twenty figured bands sewn up side by side. Each band is devided into three parts with different embroidered patterns on them. Most of the patterns are dragon and phoenix, birds, butterflies, peonies, pomergranates and other animals and plants, which are liked by the Miao people. The patterns are highly imaginative and true to life, and are marked with strong national and popular features. "whorl-figured cloth" is one of the high-grade textile handicrafts of the Miao people. It has close texture and plenty of wear. It is generally woven in rhombus designs in the grey. Miao women in Taijiang like to make dresses with this material for festive occasion. Condition: Shoulder
