Miao Jacket - Taijiang Style

The ancestor of the Miao ethnic groups who wear clothes in Zhenfeng style now, came from Huangping to Zhenfeng in the Qing dynasty, so their style of dress is the same as that of Huangping, but the basic colour of their dress material is black instead of brown for men and women and for old and young all alike. Zhengfeng embroidery excels in its simplicity and elegance, especially in the figured designs on the back of women's dress. These designs are all embroidered in flat, close stitch with dark blue or dark green floss silk. The flat stitch embroidery has a special method and skill of stitching. The floss silk runs both vertically and horizontally. The patterns of each design are symmetrical on all sides and neatly stiched.

Girls treasure very much the figured designs on the back of their dresses. When in love, they will present a piece of the figured designs to their boy friends as a token of promise.
