Embroidery

The textile work of these minority groups is their major art form. Indeed they have taken this art form to the highest level, creating not only a series of amazingly intricate stitches but using these in many different combinations on the same piece of work to produce highly sophisticated compositions of color texture and form.

Figured Bands

The bands are woven with cotton and silk threads. They are used as bands for tying aprons, baby carriers, stockings, trousers, and so on.

Folded stitch.

Tiny pieces of fabric are folded into long strips which are then attached to the surface of the cloth

Horse Hair Stich

Wrapped embroidery. A length of horsehair is wrapped with silk thread and used as an outline element in embroidery design.

Plain or Flat Embroidery Stitch.

This stitch follows the warp of the textile, always going in straight lines, which can vary in length. This stitch acts as a color filler.

Pleat Embroidery

This is done by first making about ten pieces of floss silk into thin braids, then curling them evenly in short folds and sewing them on the designs from outside to the centre, so that the patterns stand out in relief against the ground with a strong stereoscopic effect.

Braid Embroidery

This is pleat embroidery but the braids are evenly laid.

Braided or lock stitch.

This stitch is chained creating line of a desing.
